Riverstone Networks, Inc. was a leading provider of carrier Ethernet infrastructure solutions for business and residential communications service. On March 21, 2006, Riverstone announced that Lucent Technologies was the winner of the auction for the sale of Riverstone. Their worldwide relationship delivers combined, end-to-end carrier Ethernet solutions. The combination of Lucent's Ethernet over optical, broadband access and data solutions and Riverstone's MPLS-based Ethernet solutions allows global service providers to extend their existing infrastructures for a lower cost while building new, more efficient ones. This plays a major role in building an integrated Next Generation Network Infrastructure that supports voice, video and data services.
