On March 21, 2006, Riverstone announced that Lucent Technologies was the winner of the auction for the sale of Riverstone. Their worldwide relationship delivers combined, end-to-end carrier Ethernet solutions. The combination of Lucent's Ethernet over optical, broadband access and data solutions and Riverstone's MPLS-based Ethernet solutions allows global service providers to extend their existing infrastructures for a lower cost while building new, more efficient ones. This plays a major role in building an integrated Next Generation Network Infrastructure that supports voice, video and data services.
